Christmas card 2013!!!

I have not been crafting much for the last three months except on special occasions and festivals. Christmas has always been so special to me and how can I not create a Christmas card.

I used my new Tim Holtz Ornate On the Edge Die in the card (Never got an opportunity to use it since I bought it three months back).

I have used a Pattern paper which Colette has sent as a gift... Loved the Bright colors of the paper. I just wanted to use all of those Papers she sent. They all were cute.. The Ribbon was also part of her gift.

I wanted a Poinsettia flower but had no stamp or die for it. I used a part of the Tim holtz tattered flower to create this flower. Colored the diecut with water color pencils. Added Glitter balls in the centre and wow I loved the result.

The Oak Leaf is a RAK from Devika of Kukies Basket.

Here is the card:

Name Boards I created recently for our new Home!!!

Today, Am sharing two Quilled name boards that I created for our new Home. This is my first attempt at Quilling typography.

The first one, I wanted to keep it simple bcoz it is to be kept out on the door. I wanted to make it look masculine but yet wanted to keep it Bright. While chatting with my Blogger friend Manu, she gave me a suggestion to use Red and Yellow. It turned out pretty good. No flowers, No Glitters....

My Lil one saw that and she asked me whats written in that(She is 2 n a half n she identifies very few alphabets). As I told her, its her dad's name, She immediately asked me Where is the one with my name. So I had to create one to hang on her Room door.  After I quilled her name, I placed a lil girl sticker. Then she demanded me to add everything she likes like Butterfly, Angry birds, Kitty, Car, Train,Winnie the Pooh, Teddy bear, Stars, Heart.... And it went so on and I stopped the list when there was no more space left in the Board.

The card is an inspiration from Georgeann Manning. I was so impressed by her creations and each n every card in her blog was gorgeous.

A Simple Mixed media Tag !!

I sometimes spend my time in the craft room just doing random things like distressing a piece of paper, coloring some digitally printed image, try stamping with my unused stamps.... Two days back,I wanted to try using the new Sakura Gesso and Modelling paste I recently bought.

I tried inking, applying gesso and then used the modelling paste to create a texture. When I looked at that finally, It looked like a tag. So, Embellished the piece, added a sentiment and converted it into a Tag.

This is the final result:

My First tutorial - With Sizzix Tattered flowers !! (A pic heavy post)

I want to Thank Itsy Bitsy for coming up with a Challenge like this for the month of July. As soon as I saw the topic, I decided I am gonna give a try at it… A  project with Sizzix product. The twist is to have a tutorial with it. I wanted to use the chance otherwise I don’t think I will do a Tutorial. I prefer doing a photo step by step tutorial coz If It is a video, I need someone with me to record.

Recently I tried this Tattered flowers and showcased this die at Kukies Basket as a design team member. From that day, I fell in love with the die.  So I thought it will be easy for me to work with something that I am in love with.

The tattered flowers is a set of four pieces.  Am gonna show you now how I use them on my creations. I prefer starting with White Diecuts in paper which allows me to use the lovely distress inks, I use it in paper because I want the papers to be soft n curl however I want it to be.

Things needed:
  1. Tattered florals Diecut
  2. Distress Inks (I used Worn Lipstick and Fired Brick)
  3. Blending  tool
  4. Embossing tool
  5. Quilling tool
  6. Stamp(preferably a script)
  7. Stamping Ink-Black
  8. A Spritzer bottle (I do not own any mini mister. So I use a Hair spray bottle which I tried some Decoupage on)
Add caption

Step:1
I started distressing the Diecuts with Worn lipstick Distress pad and then with Fired Brick for a darker shade. I prefer distressing it both the sides.

After Distressing, it looks like this.

Step 2:

To add Patterns, I randomly stamped on them with a stamp in Black ink.

Step 3:

Now, Emboss in the center for a raised effect and then curl the edges with a Quilling tool (I do it either inside or outside or a combination of both). For ths flower, I had done it inwards.

Step 4:

Align the diecuts one over the other acc to their sizes and secure in the middle with Glue.

Step 5:

Now embellish them as you like in the centre. I have just cut the pollens from their wires and used it at the centre.

Now, The flower is ready to be added in my creations.

I have used these Diecuts in all the following creations this month:

This is the one with a same style. But I had used Pine needles Distress Inks on the flowers.

In the next one, I have done distressing randomly without stamping on it. Have added Bling in the centre.
I used it in Recycled Box

The next one is simple without any Distressing. A plain color Diecut where i used a combination of curling the petals. One inside and the other outside alternatively. To add dimension to it, I colored them here n there. Added a little pearl in the centre.
I have used this flower in a tag below.

In this last one, I Distressed the white diecuts with Peeled paint and Tea dye combination. Sprayed water with a spray bottle. Crumpled it and allowed it dry. And after sometime, I just opened and adhered it one over the other. Finally added a Star charm in the centre.
I have used this in a Money Envelope.

Thats all for now. Hope the tutorial is ok with u all.. Pls leave your comments n suggestions. I have so many ready tattered flowers in my stash now which I will be usingin the upcoming creations.

Happy Crafting Guys..Enjoy!!!

A Quilled Thank you Card!!

I created this Thank you card for my Brother-in-law who helped us in our time of Need. I wanted to keep it simple but attractive.

Took a Pattern paper and Distressed it with Peeled Paint Distress Ink. The Flowers are Quilled and the leaves are punched. I used a floral tape around a twine and created the plant's stem.

I really loved the outcome and I hope My Brother-in-law likes it too.

Upcycled Shoe Box into a Basket!!

I always loved upcycling / recycling waste boxes. But didnt get to do them much.

Oneday, when I was just browsing through Pinterest,I found this link of upcycling a shoe box. I saved it to my system and totally forgot abt it. Recently, when i was just organizing my system files, i came thro this again. As soon as I saw this I wanted to try. Here is the link pic for ur reference.

But I had a different shoe box which didnt have the extra layer inside so that it becomes a compartment.  I attached an extra sheet to it with tape and secured them.

Here are the pics

The insides of the box - I painted them with Acrylic colors.

I used a packaging paper of a wall sticker in pista green to cover two sides of the box and a striped pattern paper for the other two sides.

After sticking all those there were small gaps where the two compartments met.I used Washi tapes to cover them.

I wanted to keep it in my craft space so I used sticker based embellishments.

The box was ready and then I realized that it occupies more space in the table. So I just punched holes, fastened a golden twine to it and hung it in the wall. Now it stays in my craft space holding my small tools and small paper scraps in seperate compartments.
